THE FIRST BOTTLES OF 20 YEAR OLD SOMERSET CIDER BRANDY
ARRIVE TO A FRUITY WELCOME AT VINEYARDS!
We were asked by the distiller, Dorset born Tim Edwards who lives in Leigh, to launch the 20 year old Somerset Cider Brandy on October 16th at the same time as the launch in Somerset but, whilst the Distillery is surrounded by acres of vintage orchards, we have had to organise our own! Mike Burks of Castle Gardens in Sherborne came to the rescue and so we will have our own apple orchard at the front of the shop to welcome people to the special launch event! said Hannah Wilkins, of Vineyards.
The 20 year old Somerset Cider Brandy, which is being produced as a limited edition of 1000 bottles per year, has been aged in Pedro Ximenez barrels, giving it a mellow, rich flavour with hints of apples, autumn leaves and raisins. Described by one wine writer as 'The apples are back in force, like ghosts returning to the spirit fire: concentrated, dense and warming'.
